Fugløyafestivalen 2016

The climbing club in Bodø has, for the past years, arranged a climbing festival on Fugløya, outside of Bodø. This year my bf was part of the committee planning the festival so I ended up getting roped into helping out.
Such hardships I endure!! ;^)

Their request was a Lundefugl (or Puffin), native to the island, wearing some climbing gear. I first did some quick sketches on a sketchpad to get the ideas down and, when satisfied with the idea, did a simple and "clean" sketch in photoshop.
The "glorious" PS sketch and finished illustration.

The festival doesn't have a logo and let whoever is designing the t-shirt and poster to do what they want, so the whole affair is pretty relaxed. I had to improvise and do a quick logo that was a little cleaner than the illustration (for readability), but still matched it.

Here's the finished t-shirt with the illustration! :^)
The sketch was vectorized in AI for a clean print!

I also did a poster for them in A3 so they could print it themselves- It has a white border so that they didn't have to do any cutting work for easy printing. The background color was matched to this years T-shirt (100% Cyan!) and I incorporated a photo of Fugløya they wanted to include.

I heard the festival was a success and from the stories, I think they had a pretty good time. My bf said he got compliments on the T-shirt, so seems like a job well done! It was a fun project to do outside of work and I enjoyed working on the illustration while getting tips and good conversations from the Ketsjup crew! Thanks for the motivation guys!
Thanks for looking!

Bodø Drink + Draw

I finally started the Bodø Drink + Draw FB group that I have been itching to do since I moved here. I don't have a lot of "drawing friends" in Bodø, so I really wanted to make some! My friend Anette moved here because of school, so now I had the opportunity to do a meet-up without having to do it alone. (Imagine me sitting alone with a tiny flag in a cafè for an hour and a half... such a sad mental image!)

If you are in the north of Norway and interested of joining when in Bodø, check out our facebook page! I even made a little logo for it! :^)

That one time I pretended to be a food blogger.

A few months ago we had a project that recquired food + food images. I made the food for the photoshoot, and since I also did the first design draft for the folder the images were going in to, I took some temporary placeholder images just for fun. So here, have some pancake porn + bonus crispbread deliciousness!

My images got scrapped since we have two super talented photographers and I am an amateur at best. Though, in the end, my food got the attention it deserved... unfortunately it was ruined by hairspray in the name of photography and went in the trash after the shoot: Photographers, ruiners of great and delicious banana pancakes! (The crispbread was saved...! I spent a week eating them for lunch, yum!)

Brilleland Competition feat. cute girls in glasses.

Brilleland, a Norwegian optician chain, is having a competition for designing glasses cases as a 30th anniversary celebration. Since I wear glasses like a champion every day and want a new case (and glasses...!), I thought: Finally an opportunity to get off my bum and do a pattern! I have been itching to figure out how to make "element" patterns is PS since Christmas, but couldn't really be bothered to scratch that itch until now.

You can vote for it here!

Tada!
4 different colors.
Seamless!
+ I did a mock-up since I am a huge dork 8^)
The idea behind the pattern is: Norwegian nature + cute girls + glasses + strawberries. I looked at a lot of cute 70s outfits for this one!

Please vote for me if you like it!

Project update: 31 Day Sketchbook

My sketchbook project that I wrote a little bit about here is trucking along. I'm not too sure about the page layout. Hopefully there will be some good feedback once I send it off to review and I can do some editing!

...and I have started mocking up the cover.
So exciting! :^D

Vector illustrations for a project...!

I'm working on a fun project for myself with the help of Sandra- it's a 31 days sketchbook that can also be used as a calendar for any one month in any year! The idea is that you challenge yourself to 31 days of daily sketches or one selected month: I think the mock-up stage of the project is going well.... I hope to have it sent to the printers in the start of next month after having it reviewed!

I thought I'd share some of the small vector illustrations I've done for the explanation, intro and pages. They were pretty fun to do! I look forward to seeing it all come together!

Hanssen&De | Small web-site design.

My friend Anette has a small firm called Hanssen & De andre.
Since I've done some jobs with her and had some free time after Christmas, I did a super simple splash page so there would be something to look at on her website. I want to do something more elaborate later, but for now this will do!

If you look through the source code as a web-coder you might have a stroke as I write code like wrote it when I was 13...! I am trying to change my div layer ways and right now I am trying to teach myself how to stack it all nicely without having to resort to pixel placement. (2015 goal...?)

I also took the liberty of listing myself on it!
Job perk! ;^)

Work + Process: Emblem(s)

My boyfriend asked me if I could help him make an emblem for him and his skiing buddies so they could get stickers to put on their equipment. I thought it would be fun to post the process and result! I started the project before moving- and unfortunately the stickers were lost in the mail (!!!), though Moo, being the awesome company they are- resent them for no additional charge! Thanks Moo!

Now here is the process and result!

Started by sketching on paper and talking about the idea together while cooking dinner, messily and lose! Just to get the general elements down. (Very beautiful illustrations...)

Sketched some variations digitally and sent them to be reviewed. They chose the close-up of the reindeer and the coffee cup!

Vectorised in them in grayscale in AI and then converted to color with a lot of different color variations. (The color variations were inspired by the lovely Fjällraven bags!) They ended up choosing three out of the four color variations I sent of them because they couldn't decide on just one.

(Take with my phone camera so colors are a little off!)

Finished stickers! 8-9 of each of a batch of 52 round stickers from Moo. It ended up being 15£ (shipping included in price) with the 10% from my referral! ♥ All in all a really fun little project.

Kraft 2014

Yesterday was Kraft 2014- a conference dedicated to female entrepreneurship and networking. I got to enjoy a couple of hours of inspiring talks by awesome ladies, a comedy show, the lovely Siw-Anita and free food! I was lucky enough to get a free ticket because I designed the program (Hurray!) and it was pretty neat to see it "in the wild".

All in all a good time!
